There are many public misconceptions about psychiatry. Some think couch, dim light and a sleepy droning voice describing
childhood experiences whenever they hear psychiatry. Others think about an bearded omniscient being who can understand a
person just by looking at the person once.
Neither of these are psychiatry.
Psychiatry is actually behavioral neuroscience. There is a part of brain which controls human behaviours. When that part dysfunctions there is behavioral abnormalities. These are known as psychiatric disorders
